On March 15th, Hungarian President Janos Ader signed a new asylum law that was approved by the country’s parliament on March 7th.
Among other things, the law allows authorities to detain all asylum seekers older than 14 in closed border camps.
The law will take effect eight days after being signed by the president.
Aid groups, the UN Refugee Agency and UNICEF have strongly criticised the Hungarian government’s new measures.
