From Novinite: Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Stefan Yanev told the country’s parliament that since January 1st, 294 migrants have been arrested at the border with Turkey.
That is almost 80 percent less than in the same period last year. Also during the same time, those detained while trying to cross irregularly from Bulgaria to Serbia was down to 1,420, or about 30 percent less.
With migration pressure the highest at Bulgaria’s southern border, the frontier is guarded by a joint task force of Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defense.
Bulgaria, together with FYROM, is one of the main stops along the so-called Balkan Route that leads to Serbia and then to Austria and Central Europe.
