From Kathimerini: Tensions continue to rise on the island of Chios between asylum seekers of different backgrounds at overcrowded reception centres.
Fights have become an almost daily occurrence, including a recent violent confrontation between Afghans and Algerians at the Vial closed reception centre.
The incident began when two small groups of people began throwing stones at one another and escalated into a brawl that involved about 60 people.
Police riot squads were eventually called in to take control of the situation.
Government figures show that approximately 200 asylum seekers have arrived on Chios in recent days.
