From ANA-MPA, Kathimerini and ERT: Greek officials have reported that 330 refugees and migrants arrived on eastern Aegean islands during the weekend, with 100 landing on Lesvos and 230 on Chios.
In a separate report, officials said 52 Syrian refugees landed on Lesvos early Friday while 60 people arrived on Chios and 14 on Samos in the 24 hours previous.
A total of 2,627 migrants landed on Greek islands from Turkey between January 1 and March 5 this year, according to Greek government data. In the same period last year, the number was 121,426.
Meanwhile, thousands of asylum applications have not yet been processed even though the number of arrivals has dropped dramatically over the past year.
However, the head of Greece’s Asylum Service, Maria Stavropoulou, said the speed of processing asylum applications has increased slightly during the past few months after more staff was added.
